Opening Development | T. checks the homework in Ss’ notebooks. Then, he writes the title of the poem on the board and asks Ss what is the topic and theme of the poem. T. gives Ss a series of letters taken from the poem which contain a particular vowel sound and have Ss to work out their sound/letter correspondence. For example: fair/there. Ss have to differentiate how English often lacks sound/letter correspondence. Next, T. write the poem on the board and deletes the time tenses (past and past perfect) and changes each verb into infinitive.
